WWL, Locator, SQR

NEWSLETTER of “Make More Miles on VHF”

Latest news:

http://www.mmmonvhf.de/latest.php

Frank DH7FB and Bernd DF2ZC are currently looking for a suitable QTH
either on Guernsey or Jersey (with priority Guernsey). We are planning
for a 2m EME dxpedition from 11 to 18 October 2008 since our planned
ZB activity had to be cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control.
We are looking for a detached holiday cottage, preferably with few
or no neighbours. So if you know a QTH with good tropo takeoff (but
not 100% necessary as we will cocentrate on EME, so only usual moon
QTF definetly needs to be open). Maybe some fellow hams from GU/GJ
read this, or somebody who already was there on holiday?
Any suggestions are welcome. vy 73 Bernd DF2ZC”at”gmx.de

Jussi, OH6ZZ, will be trying o activate the Water-Square (JP91)
and as well OH0 (KO09) after the JP91-Gig 8th until 9th of June 2008.
LATEST NEWS from Jussi at his new Expedition Webpage:
Few words ab my working policy - pse call with report all the time,
during ongoing qso. This will increase qso rate. In JP91 I might leave
73 away. I keep list of copied calls all the time and try to work every
station but please patience because f ex last week in KO09 I had 5..10
calls waiting. Only two exceptions; - stations within tropo range, say
500..600km - pse call only short 5..10s period, because tropo signal
will block all pings/bursts and prevent finishing qso. - BIG GUNs
You will be heard and worked, dont need to call all the time

This summer, Gerd DL2SB will again be QRV as OH5SB/mm on the way
to the summer QTH in his second home country Finland. In recent
years, I used to activate the water squares on 2m in SSB (until
2005 with my previous callsign OH5NYI). On 6m, mobile operation
was forbidden. Now in current Finnish regulations, mobile operation
including /mm in international waters on 6m is allowed. This year,
in addition to possibly 2m (144.288 and 144.300) the main activity
during ship travel will be 6m SSB. The 6m frequency may depend on
TV QRM situation. Read: http://www.mmmonvhf.de/latest.php?id=1314

MMMonVHF Newsletter May 30, 2008

Hallo dear MMMonVHF friends,

We attempt to distribute the NEWSLETTER one or two times per week.

Latest NEWS/INFO for the NEWSLETTER - MMMonVHF The VHF-DX-Portal

144 MHz SPORADIC E Summaries 2008 - http://www.mmmonvhf.de/es.php

As you already have seen the VHF-DX-Portal MMMonVHF started to work
out the first 144 MHz Sporadic E Openings of the year.
Up to now we have had daily input of logs since 24th of May!
Today some short info and hints about the progress and future:
These Summaries follow-up the ufb work on the pages of Udo, DK5YA and
Steffen, DM2SR. It is a real SUMMARY and NOT a REAL TIME Program.
In the case you want to have real time info about the MUF we recommend
the DX Sherlock by Gabriel, EA6VQ (www.vhfdx.net) or LiveMuf by Dave,
G7RAU (www.g7rau.demon.co.uk/).

MMMonVHF will only collect the LOGs over the day and put it together to
an overview later the day (so NO need to send the LOG twice - its NOT
shown earlier ;-) ). In case of small openings we are able to provide
as well typical QSOs from the DXC to our MAP - BUT we have seen that a
lot of “rubbish” QSOs and SPOTS are via DXC.
The basis for MMMonVHF-Maps are the Log-inputs from YOU! So if YOU work
any 144 MHz Sporadic E QSO please be so kind and send us your log online:
LOGIN at MMMonVHF, go to the Sporadic E page (www.mmmonvhf.de/es.php)
and click “Send your Report”. We only be able to accept registered Users
to avoid Spam and Mal-Spots…

A Poll at our ES Section initiated by Allard, PE1NWL (DX-Robot) and MMM
“How did you discover this ES opening this time?”
If you pass your ES-Log to MMMonVHF please have a short look at the lower
end of the page - you might mark how you did discover this Sporadic E
opening at these day! After the Sporadic E Saison we will spread the
rsults and maybe try to make some more tools around these stuff…
