C5 - GAMBIA
Niels,OZ8KR, will be QRV again in SSB on 40-10m signing C56KR from
Bakuto near the Atlantic coast from Jan 9-14. After making a short trip
to Senegal he will be back again in Gambia from Jan 23 until Feb 4.

CO - CUBA, NA-015
Eduardo,CO8LY, is working in PKS31, RTTY, CW and SSB on all bands
and appreciates any skeds via his e-mail: co8ly[kringelis]frcscu[taskas]ciges.inf.cu
His QSL manager is EA7ADH, who confirms only direct unfortunately.

FT/W - CROZET ISLANDS, AF-008
Florentin,FT5WO, will be active on 14120 kHz (speaking French) and on
14262 kHz (for other stations) mainly after 1700 UTC in the next time.
QSL via F4DYW, direct or via bureau. The QSL cards will be confirmed
when he returns home to France in December 2009.

HI - DOMINICAN REPUBLIC
Simone,IZ5JNQ, is QRV from the main island Hispaniola (NA-096) signing
HI7/IZ5JNQ between Jan 5 and Feb 5. He also plans a trip to the islands
Saona and Catalina (NA-122) from where he will show up as HI2/IZ5JNQ.
QSLs direct via EB7DX.

HK - COLOMBIA
Cody,HK3/KC2LSD, is going to hit the aiwaves mostly on 20m/30m/40m
starting around 2300 UTC on Jan 9-15. He will announce his operating

P4 - ARUBA, SA-036
Peter,EA5GVH/DF7DQ, will spend his holidays on Aruba (SA-036) from
Jan 12-28. He plans to work as P40PZ in SSB and the digital modes PSK,
Olivia, FeldHell, SSTV and RTTY on 80m-6m. QSLs via EA5GVH (also eQSL).

TT8 - CHAD
Sylvain,F6CIS, who is momentarily active as TT8SK will stay in Chad for
a period of time between six months or three years. He has been spotted
in SSB on 20m and 40m mostly from 1830-1930 UTC. QSL via F5OZF.

V6 - FEDERATED STATES OF MICRONESIA, OC-010
Mike,KM9D, and his YL Jan,KF4TUG, who were active as H44MY and H44TO
lately, are now underway again with their yacht “SV Don Henry” towards
Pohnpei. Further plans are not known yet.

ZD8 - ASCENSION ISLAND, AF-003
Steve,G3ZVW, will be QRV again as ZD8N from Ascension Island (AF-003)
working in CW, RTTY and SSB mainly on 30m-10m from Jan 12-27.
QSLs direct or via bureau to G3ZVW.

5X - UGANDA
Peter,5X4X, is working as development aid worker in Arua/Uganda until
June 2009. He uses a Yaesu FT-950 (100 watts), a spiderbeam for 20m/
17m/15m/12m/10m pointing to Europe mostly and a Zepp antenna for 40m.
Peter complains that a pirate abuses his callsign on 40m, 80m and 160m.
If you make any contacts with him in the evening hours you should be
aware that the power line in Arua is cut after 2000 UTC.
The QSL manager of Peter is DF5GQ.

SOUTH PACIFIC TRIP
Udo,DL9HCU, is momentarily active as 3D2HC. He plans to become QRV as
T33HC from Banaba Island (OC-018) next on Jan 8 or 9. Later he will
show up as T30HC from Western Kiribati. QSL via DL9HCU.

CROATIA, SPECIAL EVENT STATIONS
The special event stations 9A2009OS (in Osijek), 9A2009PO (Porec),
9A2009PU (Pula), 9A2009ST (Split), 9A2009ZD (Zadar), 9A2009ZG (Zagreb)
and 9A2009VZ (Varazdin) can be found working on the bands until Feb 1.
The 2009 Men’s World Handball Championship will take place at these
places in Croatia between Jan 16 and Feb 1. QSLs via the 9A bureau.

PIRATE: Arik,5X1AB, went QRT on Oct 9, 2008. His QSL manager Phil,K6EID,
states that he got several QSL request for QSOs made after this date.

TUNISIA, 3V. Members of the Provins ARC will be QRV as TS7C from
Kerkennah Island, IOTA AF-073, from January 8 to 19. Activity will
be on all HF bands using CW, SSB, RTTY, FM, SSTV and PSK with six or
seven stations. QSL via F4EGD.

PALESTINE, E4. A group of operators will be QRV as E44M from
January 1 to 11. Activity will be on 160 to 2 meters using CW, SSB
RTTY and other digital modes with three stations. QSL via IZ0BTV.

BELARUS, EW. Vlad, EW7LO has been QRV on 40 meters around 1700z.
QSL to home call.

SWITZERLAND, HB. In celebration of the 80th anniversary of the
Union of Swiss HF Amateurs, or USKA, Swiss amateurs are allowed to
use the special prefixes HE8 and HB8 during the year 2009.

HONDURAS, HR. Paolo, IK2QPR will be QRV as HR9/home call from
Roatan Island, IOTA NA-057, from January 4 to 12. QSL to home call.

THAILAND, HS. Kurt, HS0ZBS is QRV from Phanom Sarakham until
January 10. He is active using the digital mode Olivia on 20 meters
around 1100z daily. QSL to home call.

NORWAY, LA. Al, LA9SN is QRV as LA9SN/p from Flekkoroy Island, IOTA
EU-061. He is generally active on the HF bands. QSL to home call.

ARUBA, P4. Marty, W2CG will be QRV as P40CG from January 3 to 17
while on holiday. He will be active on 80 to 10 meters. This
includes an entry in the ARRL RTTY Roundup. QSL to home call.

PALAU, T8. Hide, JM1LJS is QRV as T80W until January 5. Activity
is on 80 to 6 meters using CW and SSB during his spare time. QSL to

MARSHALL ISLANDS, V7. Neil, WD8CRT will be QRV as V73NS from
Kwajalein atoll, IOTA OC-028, beginning January 5. He will be here
for the next two years. Activity will be on 160 to 6 meters using

CANADA, VE. In remembrance of the work of Italian physicist,
mathematician and astronomer Galileo Galilei, Canadian amateurs may
use the prefixes CF, CG, CH and CI from January 1 to February 28.

CAMBODIA, XU. Peter, NO2R is QRV as XU7ACY from Sihanoukville until
the end of January. He is active primarily on 160 and 80 meters as
propagation permits. He may also try to be active from Bamboo
Island, IOTA AS-133. QSL via W2EN.

ASCENSION ISLAND, ZD8. Six members of the Cambridge University
Wireless Society will be QRV as ZD8UW from January 2 to 9. Activity
will be on the HF bands using CW and SSB. QSL via G7VJR.

THIS WEEKEND ON THE RADIO. ARRL Straight Key Night, ARRL RTTY
Roundup, The Lighthouse Christmas Lights QSO Party, RTTY Welcome
Day, AGB New Year Snowball Contest, SARTG New Year RTTY Contest,
AGCW Happy New Year CW Contest, NCCC Sprint, EUCW 160-Meter CW
Contest, Kid’s Day Contest and ARS Spartan CW Sprint are all
scheduled for both New Year’s Day and the upcoming weekend. Please

E4 - PALESTINE
A team of six Italian HAMs will shop up in CW/SSB/RTTY/digital modes
signing E44M on 160-2m from Jan 1-11. They will activate three stations
with up to 1 kW, yagis, verticals and wires. The OPs Simone,IZ0BTV,
Bello,IZ0EGM, Giorgio,IZ4AKS, Cortesi,IZ4DPV, Pasquale,IZ8IYX, and
Vini,IK2CIO, will focus on the lowbands, WARC bands and digital modes.

FO - FRENCH POLYNESIA, OC-046
Pascal,FO/F8AAL, is spending his holidays on Moorea (OC-046) and
works in SSB and RTTY on 40m/30m/20m until Dec 31.
QSLs direct or via bureau to his homecall F8AAL.

H4 - SOLOMON ISLANDS / H40 - TEMOTU ISLANDS
Bernhard,DL2GAC/H44MS, flies to the South Pacific again and will arrive
in Honiara, capital of the Solomon Islands, on Jan 8. His return flight
is scheduled for Apr 28 which means he will spend most of the European
winter there. This will be his 20th visit to the Solomons since 1985.
Bernhard works in SSB only and plans to focus especially on 40m/80m. He
will be joined by the CW op Sigi,DK9FN, and the EME op Hermann,DL2NUD,
by the end of February. All three of them are planning also a short
trip to Temotu (H40) for two or three weeks. Their flight to Lata, the
capital of Temotu, has been booked for Mar 2. Sigi will return to home
on Mar 16 and Hermann on Apr 9.

HB8/HE8 - SWITZERLAND
The “Union of Swiss HF Amateurs” (USKA) celebrates its 80th anniversary
and thus Swiss HAMs are allowed to use the special prefixes HE8 and HB8
during the year 2009. Owners of an amateur radio licence class 1, 2 or
CEPT may use the special prefix HE8 (instead of HB9) from Jan 1 until
Dec 31, 2009. Owners of a licence class 3 may use the special prefix
HB8 (instead of HB3).

P4 - ARUBA, SA-036
Marty,W2CG, is going to spend his holidays again on Aruba (SA-036)
from Jan 3-17. He will sign P40CG on 10-80m during his early morning
and late evening hours and also during the ARRL RTTY Roundup Contest
on Jan 3/4. QSLs direct, via bureau or LoTW to his homecall W2CG.

V7 - MARSHALL ISLANDS, OC-028
Neil,WD8CRT, will have to work on the Kwajalein atoll (OC-028) for the
next two years starting on Jan 5. He will work mostly in CW on 160-6m

VQ9 - CHAGOS ARCHIPELAGO, AF-006
Jim,ND9M, is working on Diego Garcia (AF-006) again since Dec 18 for
a total of four months. He had no problems to extend his VQ9JC licence
and got also the special call VQ98JC which is valid until Dec 31, 2008.
QSL cards will be printed after he returns home in April. Usually Jim
is working in all bands and modes and via the satellites AO-51/SO-50
from 1200-1630 UTC on sundays to tuesdays and one hour longer on
fridays and saturdays (sometimes also until 0100 UTC).
QSLs also via bureau to ND9M.

ZD8 - ASCENSION ISLAND, AF-003
Hugo,M0HSW, Tom,M0TJH, Simon,G4EAG, Gordon,G3USR, Martin,G3ZAY, and
Michael,G7VJR (who is also the QSL manager), will be active as ZD8UW
between Dec 31 and Jan 9. The six members of the “Cambridge University

CW/RTTY/SSB on 160-6m from Dec 28 until Jan 3. Gary and Paul are using

3V - TUNISIA, AF-073
The Provins ARC (F6KOP) organizes another large DXpedition in 2009.
They will activate Kerkennah Island (AF-073) as TS7C from Jan 8-19.
Activities will take place in CW/SSB/FM/RTTY/PSK31/BPSK/SSTV on all
HF bands with six or seven stations but once again they will focus on
the lowbands (as known from their earlier DXpeditions 5H1C, XT2C, J5C).

from Dec 18 2008 until Jan 7,2009. During his little spare time he will

Larry,PJ4/WO0Z, is going to spend his holidays on Bonaire (SA-006) from
Dec 26 until Jan 4. He works “holiday style” concentrating on 17m/30m.

Randy,K7LNR, is also the opinion that Bonaire Island is a nice place
to spend his holidays from Dec 21-27. He has been spotted as PJ4/K7LNR

S21RC, S21AM, S21DM and S21S will activate St. Martin’s Island (AS-127)
also known as Narical Gingira (which means Cocos island) by the end of

TU - COTE D’IVOIRE
Phil,F4EGS, returned from Tajikistan where he made more than 5000 QSOs
as EY8/F4EGS. He will start working in Abidjan, the capital of
Cote d’Ivoire, on Dec 25. He will be QRV as TU8/F4EGS in CW/SSB/RTTY on
HF until the end of Feb 2009. QSL direct or via REF bureau via F4EGS.
His next plans for 2009 include Mauritius and Rodrigues where Phil will
show up as 3B8/F4EGS and 3B9/F4EGS in March. He also plans to become
QRV as TT8PK from Chad for two months between May and July and from the
Tunisian island Djerba in August. Most likely he will show up as 3V8SM
from there which is the clubstation of the Tunisian scouts.

XE - MEXICO
The “DXXE Group” celebrates its fourth anniversary and activates the
call 4A1DXXE in SSB, CW and RTTY on all bands from Dec 25 until Jan 6.
The QSL manager is N7RO (also via LoTW).

SRI LANKA, 4S. Nelson, 4S7NE is generally QRV on 160 meters daily
between 2345 and 0015z. He is then active on 40 meters around
0130z. QSL direct.

LESOTHO, 7P. Danny, ZS6AW will be QRV as 7P8AA from Katse Dam from
December 24 to 27. Activity will be mostly on 20 meters using SSB.
QSL to home call.

BHUTAN, A5. Francesco, I2DMI will be QRV as A52RY from the capital
city of Thimphu from December 22 to 31. Activity will be on 80 to
10 meters using RTTY around 0100 to 0300z and then from around 1200
to 1900z. QSL to home call.

QATAR, A7. Juma, A71EM has been active on 160 meters around 0000 to
0100z. QSL via EA7FTR.

MOROCCO, CN. Andre, HB9HLM and others will be QRV with special call
CN89NY from December 21 to January 3. Activity will be on 160 to 10

CUBA, CO. Ed, CO7PH and other operators are QRV as T47C from Cayo
Coco, IOTA NA-086, until December 21. Activity is on 160 to 10

SPAIN, EA. Look for Reinhard, DH6DAO to be QRV as EA7/homecall from
the Torrox Lighthouse, ARLHS SPA-219, on Torrox Costa, from December
23 to January 4. Activity will be on all HF bands using CW and SSB.

FRENCH POLYNESIA, FO. Pascal, F8AAL is QRV as FO/F8AAL from Moorea
Island, IOTA OC-046, until December 31. He is active in his spare
time on 40, 30 and 20 meters using SSB and RTTY. QSL to home call.

CROZET ISLAND, FT/W. Florentin, F4DYW is QRV as FT5WO for one year
while on work assignment. Activity will be in his spare time. QSL

SOUTH SHETLAND ISLANDS. Janusz, SP9YI is QRV as HF0APAS until
January 12 while on the Polish base ”Henryk Arctowski” on King
George Island, IOTA AN-010. QSL to home call.

ITALY, I. Special event station II2IGTO is QRV from the submarine
”Toti” on displayed at the Museum for Science and Technology in
Milano. The station will also be active in the International Naval

MINAMI TORISHIMA, JD1. Masa, JA6GXK will be QRV as JD1BMM from
around December 23 to January 6. He plans to be active on the low

DENMARK, OZ. In celebration of the 350th anniversary of the Treaty
of Roskilde, special event station OZ1658ROS is active until the end
of 2009. QSL via OZ9EDR.

SWEDEN, SM. In celebration of the 350th anniversary of the Treaty
of Roskilde, special event stations SH1658DK, SH1658OZ, SC1658OZ,
SK1658OZ, SK1658DK and SB1658OZ are active until the endof 2009
Halland, Skane and Blekinge. QSL via operators’ instructions.

EASTERN KIRIBATI, T32. Toshi, JA8BMK is QRV as T32YY from Christmas
Island, IOTA OC-024, for about one week. QSL direct to home call.

TURKEY, TA. TCSWAT team members will be QRV as TC1KLH from the
Karaburun Lighthouse, ARLHS TUR-036, on December 21 and 22, as well
as December 27 and 28. They will be active from other Lighthouses
as well during 2009. QSL via operators’ instructions.

LAOS, XW. Bruce, XW1B will soon be QRV. Activity will be on 160,
80 and 40 meters. QSL via E21EIC.

THIS WEEKEND ON THE RADIO. The Russian 160-Meter Contest, NCCC
Sprint, AGB-Party Contest, OK DX RTTY Contest, Croatian CW Contest,
Feld Hell Sprint, International Naval Contest, ARCI Holiday Spirits
and the Homebrew CW Sprint are all scheduled for this weekend. The
Lighthouse Christmas Lights QSO Party runs from December 20 to
January 4, 2009. The Run for the Bacon QRP CW Contest is scheduled
for December 22. And, the SKCC CW Sprint is scheduled for December

A5 - BHUTAN / 9N - NEPAL
Francesco,I2DMI, is travelling through the Himalaya over the turn of
the year. He will be active in RTTY only! He will work as A52RY from
Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan, from Dec 22-31. He will then go to
Nepal where he plans to become QRV as 9N7RY or 9N7DMI from Jan 1-5.
Listen for him on or around these QRGs: 3582, 7040, 10142, 14082,18102,
21082, 24922 or 28082 kHz from 0100-0300 UTC and from 1200-1900 UTC.
QSL cards should be sent direct or via bureau to Francesco and he plans
to upload the data to the LoTW as well.

CN - MOROCCO
Andre,HB9HLM/CN2DX, will use the special call CN89NY during his stay
between Dec 21 and Jan 3, 2009. “NY” stands for New Year, “8″ for 2008
and the “9″ for 2009. The QSL manager for CN98NY is EA7FTR. Andre and
his friends CN8PA and CN2CV/HB9CVC are going to live near the sea and
will work with two stations (IC-7000, TS-680 and an AL811 amplifier).
Antennas used will be a windom for 160-10m and a G5RV for 40-10m.
The call CN98NY is valid until Jan 31 and will be activated by other

H4 - SOLOMON ISLANDS

KP5 - DESECHEO ISLAND, NA-095
Glenn Johnson,W0GJ, and Bob Allphin,K4UEE, published their second press
release concerning the upcoming Desecheo DXpedition on Nov 21. The US
Fish&Wildlife Service has allowed the team to operate from the island
from Feb 12-26. Fifteen radio amateurs will join the team and activate
up to 8 stations simultaneously on 6-160m. They will bring several tons
of equipment to the island including a change of operators on Feb 19.
Desecheo is ranking on the second place on Asian Most Wanted lists and
in Europe on the third. Their website can be found at www.kp5.us

T32 - EASTERN KIRIBATI, OC-024
Toshi,JA8BMK, who was active as T31DX until Dec 9 is expected to arrive
on Christmas Island (OC-024) on Dec 19 or 20. Toshi will be active as
T32YY for 5-7 days. QSLs only direct to JA8BMK.

VP8/ss - SOUTH SHETLAND ISLANDS, AN-010
Janusz,SP9YI, is staying at the Polish base “Henryk Arctowski” on
King George Island (AN-010) at the moment. His callsign is HF0APAS and
he will stay there until Jan 12, 2009. QSL via his homecall SP9YI.

9M2 - WEST MALAYSIA/9M6/9M8 - EAST MALAYSIA
Hans,DF5UG, is working in CW and SSB signing 9M2QQ from Port Dickson
during these days. He works with 100 watts and a 3ele yagi and a TS-50.
Hans is listening especially for Europe on 20m around 1400 UTC. He was
also responsible for the special event station 9M1P celebrating
80 years of amateur radio in Malaysia on Dec 13/14. Hans is going to
celebrate his christmas in 9M6 and the turn of the year in 9M8 being
the guest of 9M8DB. QSLs cards for all his calls 9M2QQ, 9M6QQ and 9M8QQ
should be sent via bureau to DF5UG.

FRANCE, SPECIAL EVENT STATION
The French Rallye team of Sebastien Loeb and Daniel Elena has won the
World Rallye Championship for the 5th time in a row. The French HAMs
celebrate this by activating the special call TM5WRC in all modes on
all bands between Dec 21 and Jan 3. QSL direct or via bureau to F4ELU.

ITALY, SPECIAL EVENT STATION
The special event station II2IGTO is working from the submarine “Toti”
which is displayed at the Museum for Science and Technology in Milano.
II2IGTO will be activated during the International Naval Contest on
Dec 20/21 (www.rnars.org.uk). QSL direct or via bureau to IQ2MI.

SWEDEN/DENMARK, SPECIAL EVENT STATION
Several special event stations will be active from Denmark and some SM
provinces until the end of 2009. They remember the 350th anniversary of
the treaty of Roskilde signed on Feb 26, 1658. Following calls are QRV

DX operations and amateurs are welcome. If you state that you are a licensed
radio amateur while your booking you will get room number 10 and roof access
for the antennas. Verticals can be erected diretly on the beach.
