3B7 - Rachid, 3B8FQ says that “unforeseen difficulties” have arisen with
his working trip to St. Brandon that was expected to take place
later this month [425DXN 914]. The trip has officially been
delayed until sometime in 2009. Further information is expected in
due course. Meanwhile, Rachid is very active from Mauritius on
40-10m, with an emphasis on 30, 17 and 12 metres. CW is Rachid’s

6W - Carsten, DL1EFD will operate mainly CW as 6V7N from Senegal from
23 November to 5 December, including an entry in the CQ WW DX CW

9M6 - Bob, MD0CCE, will be active as 9M6/N2BB from Sabah (OC-088) from
25 November through 1 December, including the CQ WW DX CW contest.
He will take a 160m antenna with him, and if local noise
conditions allow, he will concentrate on Top Band on 25-28

C6 - Tom/N6BT (C6ARR), Fred/KE7X (C6AKX) and Kenny/K2KW (C6ATA) will be
active on 160-20 metres from the Bahamas from 23 November to 1
December, including single band entries in the CQ WW DX CW Contest
(C6ARR on 160m, C6AKX on 20 metres and C6ATA on 80 metres). QSL

CO - Ed, CO7PH and possibily other operators will be active from IOTA
group NA-086 on 16-21 December. Plans are to operate mainly CW
with some SSB on 160-10 metres, hopefully under a T47 or CO0

E5 - Aki, JA1KAJ will be active as E51QQQ from Manihiki Atoll (OC-014),
North Cook Islands from 18 November to 9 December. He plans to
operate SSB and CW on 80-10 metres. QSL via home call, direct or

FK - Jean-Pierre, F5AHO will be active as FK/F5AHO from three New
Caledonia’s islands as follows: from the main island (OC-032) on
23 November-5 December, from Lifou (OC-033) on 7-8 December and
from Ile des Pins (OC-032) on 10-12 December. He plans to operate
SSB on 40, 20 and 17 metres. QSL via home call, direct or bureau.

FT5W - Florentin, F4DYW expects to arrive at Crozet [42DXN 913] around 8
December, and to start amateur radio activities sometime between
10 and 15 December. He will operate as FT5WO in his spare time,
using 100 watts and dipoles on 40-10 metres SSB. QSL via F4DYW (be
prepared to be patient, as he will be back home in early 2010).

GM - Russell, G5XW will be active as GM5XW from the Orkney Islands
(EU-009) between 19 and 23 November. QSL direct only to G5XW. [TNX

GM - Col, MM0NDX will be active as MM0NDX/p from the St. Kilda Islands
(EU-059) on 24-27 July. He plans to operate holiday style on 80-10
metres SSB, and to take part in the IOTA Contest. QSL direct to

H4 - Mike, KM9D and June,KF4TUG left Honiara and are going to Pohnpei
(OC-010), Micronesia (V6). According to their latest position
report (www.findu.com/cgi-bin/track.cgi?call=KM9D) now they
are lying to anchor adjacent to Luaniua village, Ontong Java
(OC-192), from where they may show up as H44MY. [TNX DXNL]

I - Tony, IK1QBT and Emilio, IZ1GAR will be active from Lampedusa
Island (AF-019) from 25 November to 1 December. They will
participate from African Italy in the CQ WW DX CW Contest, Tony as
IG9X (SOSB 80m) and Emilio as IG9W (SOSB 40m). Outside the contest
they will operate as IG9/IK1QBT and IG9/IZIGAR, with a focus on

OD - Salvo, IV3YIM is currently active as OD5/IV3YIM from Lebanon until
April 2009. He operates SSB and RTTY on 10, 15, 20, 40 and 80
metres, with some possible activity on CW, PSK and the other

OD - Ken, W5YFN has received approval from the local authorities to
operate as OD5/W5YFN while in Lebanon, for one year starting on 16
November. [TNX QRZ-DX]

PJ4 - John/K4BAI, Jeff/KU8E, Don/W4OC and Peter/NO2R will participate in
the CQ WW DX CW Contest as PJ4A from Bonaire (SA-006), Netherlands
Antilles. Outside the contest, look for the operators to be QRV as
PJ4/homecalls. QSL all five calls via K4BAI. All but KU8E will be
QRV from 26 November to 3 December (KU8E will QRT on 2 December).

PY - ZY7EAM will be active on 4-7 December to celebrate the Sailor Day.
Plans are to operate CW and SSB on 160-10 metres. QSL via PY7GK,

PY - Lucio/PP5AVM, Carlos/PP5AX, Joaquim/PP5JY, Lira/PP5LL, Mario/PP5MQ
and Mauricio/PP5WB will be active as ZV5V and ZV5Z from Ilha da
Paz (SA-027) on 6-13 December. Look for activity on 80-10 metres

T8 - Tibi, HA7TM (T88CJ) and Pista, HA5AO (T88CI) will be active from
Koror Island (OC-009), Palau from 21 November to 3 December. They
plan to operate mainly CW on 160-6 metres, with a focus on Europe.

UR - Special event station EO15IVK will be active on 21-30 November
from the city of Volnovakha (Donetsk region, Ukraine) to celebrate
the 15th anniversary of the local Kontur Radio Club. Look for
activity on the HF bands CW, SSB and RTTY. QSL via operator’s

V3 - Terry, W6WTG (V31UR) and Sharon, N2OWL (V31WL) will be active from
Caye Caulker (NA-073), Belize on 22-29 July 2009. Expect activity
on the HF bands and 6 metres, and look for V31UR to participate in
the IOTA Contest (25-26 July). QSL via W6UR. The logs will be
uploaded to LoTW a couple of weeks after the operation is over.

VP9 - Seppo, OH1VR will be active from Bermuda (NA-005) from 25 November
to 2 December. He will operate as OH1VR/VP9 (QSL via home call),
and will participate in the CQ WW DX CW Contest as VP9I (QSL via
N1HRA) on 20 metres. [TNX NG3K]

VU - A number of special callsigns (for instance, AU2JCB operated by
VU2DSI) will be aired from 15 November to 8 December to celebrate
the 150th anniversary of the birth of Indian physicist Jagadish
Chandra Bose. QSL via operator’s instructions. [TNX VU2DSI]

XU - Tom Callas, KC0W (ZD7X) was not able to go to Tristan da Cunha
[425DXN 902] and is now in Cambodia. His requested callsign is
XU7XXX and he will participate in various contests, starting with
the CQ WW DX CW at the end of the month and the ARRL 160-Meter
(5-6 December). QSL direct to his home call (Thomas M. Callas,
P.O. Box 1058, Minnetonka, MN 55345, USA). QSLling may take quite
a while, because Tom expects to remain in Cambodia for 3-4 months,
and then to visit Laos and Vietnam for “an extended DXpedition” of

YW - The YW1TI epedition to Toas Island (SA-066) [425DXN 907] is now
scheduled to take place during the last week of November. Bookmark

ZD8 - Between 31 December and 9 January, six members of the Cambridge
University Wireless Society will operate SSB and CW as ZD8UW from
Ascension Island (AF-003) on the HF bands. Expedition members will
be Hugo/M0HSW, Tom/M0TJH, Simon/G4EAG, Michael/G7VJR, Gordon/G3USR
and Martin/G3ZAY. QSL via G7VJR. Logs will be uploaded to LoTW

TRIP TO AFRICA —> Peter, HA3AUI is going back to Africa. He will be
active in his spare time as either 6W2SC (from Senegal) and J5UAP (from
Guinea-Bissau) from 15 November until about 31 March 2009. QSL via HA3AUI,
direct or bureau. Peter plans to operate digital modes with some SSB and
CW upon request. Bands in use will be 160-10m, with 500 watts from 6W and

DX SUMMIT ALERT —> The new DX Summit website (www.dxsummit.fi/)
has been up and running since 23 May 2008. The old DX Summit homepage
(oh2aq.kolumbus.com/) redirects users to the new website, but all
the old DX Summit data pages are still online. Now the time has come to
shut down the old DX Summit machine: it will be done on 19 November at 10
UTC, and it may cause your software to stop working.
To try and maintain compatibility with older software which may no longer
be supported, the new DX Summit includes a series of DX spot webpages which
are 100% HTML compatible with the same pages on the old DX Summit. Simply
changing the URLs in your software according to the information below
should keep it working with the new DX Summit. If your software does not
allow you to edit the URLs, please contact the author of your software and

SPRATLY 2009 —> According to the latest update at www.spratly2009.com,
the 1-14 March 2009 expedition to the Spratly Islands [425DXN 889] has been
postponed until further notice “due to a combination of personal and
logistical reasons”. For the time being, “donations will be returned to
those sponsors who kindly made contributions to the proposed DXpedition”.

+ SILENT KEYS + Zoran Krnjeta (9A2CY) passed away on 9 November at 56 years
of age, following a brain hemorrhage. An active DXer and a member of the
9A1BOP radio club for almost forty years, his main interest was in RTTY and
PSK31. Other recently reported Silent Keys include Tom Baker (K8MMM), Bob
McCourt (KI4RU), Edward Joseph Gassman (N8HTT), Bogdan I. Voichuk (UR0YY),
Paul D. Casdorph (W8HXX), Leo D. Hodge (ZL2AJB) and Kuo On “Tom” Wong

VP8/A - ANTARCTICA
Alex,RV1ZC (ex-UA1ZCK), is overwintering at the Russian Vostok base.
He will be active as R1ANC in CW/SSB/digital modes on several HF bands.
QSL via RN1ON, direct or via bureau.

OP0OL is the callsign of Joel,ON5XX, who is staying at Patriot Hills
between Nov 10 and Dec 18. Joel prefers CW but is not an experienced
DXpeditioner or contester and asks for your patience during his QSOs.

Meanwhile Nicolas,FT5YI (F4EGX), hit the airwaves from the French base
Dumont D’Urville where he will stay until mid December. He has been
spotted in SSB on 14200-14210 kHz around 0830 UTC.

A3 - TONGA, OC-049
Nob,A35AU (JA2AAU), Yoshi,A35IC (JA2AIC), Iwao,A35SS (JA2LSS),
Iku,A35TE (JA2ATE), and Mori,A35ZS (JA2ZS), plan to activate the
island Nuku’alofa (OC-049) in all modes on all bands from Nov 12-16.

C9 - MOZAMBIQUE
UY5LW will stay in Mozambique from Nov 13 until Dec 2. He will work
with 800 watts signing C91LW in CW, SSB and digital modes on 160-10m
and plans to join the CQWW CW Contest on 40m single band.QSL via UY5LW.

FG - GUADELOUPE
Serge,F6AUS, is active as FG/F6AUS from La Desirade Island (NA-102)
from Nov 7-15. He will then go to Les Saintes (NA-114) where he will
sign TO2HI from Nov 16 until Dec 3 (including CQWW CW Contest).
Serge confirms QSLs very reliably also via bureau.

J5 - GUINEA-BISSAU / 6W - SENEGAL
Peter,HA3AUI, will be back in Western Africa from where he intends to
show up as J5UAP and 6W2SC between Nov 15 and Mar 31, 2009. He will use
spider beams, verticals and dipoles on 160-10m running 500 watts in 6W
and only 100 watts in J5. Peter prefers digital modes but works also
some SSB and CW upon request. QSLs direct or via bureau to HA3AUI.

S7 - SEYCHELLES
Norbert,DL2RNS, is active as S79NS from Nov 1-20. He plans to activate
Mahe Island (AF-024) and Desroches Island (AF-033). QSL via homecall.

3B7 - ST BRANDON ISLANDS, AF-015
The trip of Rachid,3B8FQ, planned for October had to be postponed due
to transportation problems. His latest plans indicate the leave for
St Brandon on Nov 15. Expect him to show up as 3B7FQ in CW and SSB for
an uncertain period of time. QSL via K5XK.

3V - TUNISIA
Alex,GM0DHZ/AA8YH, is going to start his five week holiday in Tunisia
by mid November. He will be active in CW/SSB on 160-10m from the club-
station 3V8SS focussing especially on the lowbands. He is also willing
to arrange skeds with QRP stations via e-mail (aa8yh[kringelis]btinternet[taskas]com).

5T - MAURITANIA
A group of Japanese HAMs works in CW/SSB on 40-10m signing 5T5JA from
Nouakchott until the mid of Nov. Their QSL manager is JA1BAB.

9M2 - WESTERN MALAYSIA, AS-015
Rich,PA0RRS, is travelling to Penang (AS-015) again and plans to become
active as 9M2MRS between Nov 17 and Feb 6, 2009. QSLs via his homecall.

PACIFIC OCEAN
Bernhard,DL2GAC, received an e-mail from Mike,KM9D, stating following:
At the moment Mike and June,KF4TUG, are anchoring and building up their
stocks in Honiara the capital of the Solomon Islands. During his stay
in Temotu he had almost no sunshine and much bad wx working as H40MY.
June got a skin irritation but luckily she was treated by the doctor of
a group of scientists from French New Caledonia which happened to stay
on Vanikoro at the same time. In the Pacific region there is typhoon
season now (Oct/Nov until Mar/Apr) and most of the sailors stay in the
safe harbour during this time. Last weekend Mike thought about of going
to Pohnpei (OC-010) including a stopover in Ontong Java (OC-192) from
where he may show up as H44MY. His position can be tracked online at:

BOSNIA-HERCEGOVINA, SPECIAL EVENT STATION
The station E760DPR is activated until Dec 31, 2008, to celebrate the
60th anniversary of the Radio Club Trebinje. QSL via E73DPR.

ENGLAND, SPECIAL EVENT STATION
The largest German battleship “Tirpitz” was sunk on Nov 12, 1944. The
special callsign GB617SQN activated by the “Thorpe Camp Amateur Radio
Group” (www.thorpecamp.org.uk) till Nov 27 remembers this event.
QSL via 2E0PRD, direct or via bureau.

Members of the “Royal Air Force Amateur Radio Society” (RAFARS) will
activate the special event station GB70RAF between Nov 14 and Dec 11.
They are celebrating the 70th anniversary of the RAFARS by working in
CW/SSB on 80-10m. QSL via the RSGB bureau.

FRANCE, SPECIAL EVENT STATION
TM8TEG will be active in all modes on all bands from Nov 15-29 to
celebrate the 200th anniversary of the department Tarn-et-Garonne.

POLAND, SPECIAL EVENT STATION
Following special event stations are activated until Nov 23 to mark
the 90th anniversary of the Polish independence:
3Z1918PR, 3Z2008PR, 3Z90PR, HF1918PR, HF2008PR, HF90PR, SN1918PR,
SN2008PR, SN90PR, SO1918PR, SO2008PR, SO90PR, SP1918PR, SP2008PR,
SP90PR, SQ1918PR, SQ2008PR and SQ90PR. All QSOs count also for the
“Polonia Restituta Award” (see www.sp5kcr.piwko.pl).

DXCC: Some rumours say Curacao, Sint Maarten, Saba, Sint Eustatius and
Bonaire may become independent entities added to the DXCC entity list
shortly after a change of their autonomy status which shall take place
on Dec 15. Yet there is no official release from the ARRL DXCC Desk.

MAURITANIA, 5T. A group of volunteers that are part of an aid
program are QRV as 5T5JA from Nouakchott until mid November. Their
activity is on 40 to 10 meters using CW and SSB. QSL via JA1BAB.

KUWAIT, 9K. Operators DL9RCF, DM5TI, DL9NDS and DL5NAM are QRV as
9K2HN until November 17. Activity is on all HF bands using CW and
SSB. This includes an entry in the Worked All Europe RTTY contest.

WEST MALAYSIA, 9M2. Yoshiaki, JA1OCZ will be QRV as 9M4DXX from

celebration of the 90th anniversary of the end of World War One.

TURKEY, TA. Operators TA0U, TA1ST, TA1HZ and TA2RX will be QRV from
November 8 to 12 with special callsign TC70ATA in remembrance of the
70th anniversary of the death of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder
and first President of the Republic of Turkey. Activity will be

EUROPEAN RUSSIA, UA. Thirteen operators are using special prefix
RU450W until November 9 in celebration of the 450th anniversary of
Udmurtia joining Russia. QSL via operators’ instructions.

BRUNEI, V8. Ian, G3YBY will be QRV as V8FKT from November 9 to 21.
Activity will be on 40 to 15 meters using mainly SSB and RTTY. QSL
to home call.

CAMBODIA, XU. JA3AVO, JH3PBL, JA3ARJ and JA3UJR are QRV as XU7AVO,
XU7PBL, XU7ARJ and XU7UJR, respectively, from Sihanoukville until
November 11. Activity is on 160 to 6 meters using CW, SSB and
various digital modes. There may be some satellite activity as

VIETNAM, XV. Mike, RL3BM is QRV as XV4CC from Phu Quoc Island, IOTA
AS-128, until November 13 while on holiday with his family.

A5 - BHUTAN
Gerard,F2VX, Alain,F5LMJ, Jean-Louis,F9DK, and Vincent,G0LMX, are going
to activate the Kingdom of Bhutan from Nov 7-25. Bhutan is celebrating
its 100th anniversary this year and thus the special callsign A5100A
will be activated from three different QTHs in the south of Bhutan.
The team’s equipment includes three transceivers, two KW amplifiers,
a 5 band spiderbeam and an 11 ele logperiodic. QSL via F9DK.

J3 - GRENADA, NA-024
J3/DL7CM and J3/DM2AYO will be active in CW/SSB/RTTY/PSK on 6-160m from
Nov 6-25. Hans and Sid will work from Grenada (NA-024) with two radios
simultaneously (750 watts out each) using yagis and groundplanes.

KH2 - GUAM, OC-026
JA1OZK, JA1CGC, JF1TAB, JH1FUD, JL1LOW, JK1DRM and 7N1AZY will be QRV

as KH2/K6Y, the others will sign KH2/homecalls (which are also their
QSL routes, bureau ok). Activities will take place in CW, SSB and
digital modes on all bands (including WARC).

S7 - SEYCHELLES, AF-024
Tohru,JA0UMV, and Iwa,JA0UH, will stay on Praslin Island (AF-024) from
Nov 9-14. They will sign S79MV and S79UH in SSB, CW and RTTY running
500 watts into an inverted L for 160-30m and dipoles for 20-10m. If
they do not interfere expect them to work on two bands simultaneously.

V8 - BRUNEI, OC-088
Ian,G3YBY/F5VKT, announced to be active as V8FKT from Nov 9-21. Ian
works mainly in SSB/RTTY on 40-10m running 100 watts into verticals.

VU - INDIA
After returning from their Andaman DXpedition DL5DSM (VU3NLG) and
DJ7JC (VU3NLF) are going to stop in Goa from Nov 6-14.

XU - CAMBODIA
XU7AVO (JA3AVO), XU7PBL (JH3PBL), XU7ARJ (JA3ARJ) and XU7UJR (JA3UJR)
will be QRV from Sihanoukville from Nov 6-11.

XV - VIETNAM, AS-128
Mike,RL3BM, Ark,UA4CC, and their families will spend their holidays on
Phu Quoc Island (AS-128) from Nov 5-13. XV4BM (QSL via RL3BM) and
XV4CC (via UA4CC) will be QRV in CW and SSB on 80-10m using an IC-7000,
a K2 transceiver, verticals and a 2ele wire beam for 20m.

ZF - CAYMAN ISLANDS, NA-016
Rick,AI5P, is also spending his holidays but on Grand Cayman (NA-016)
from Nov 10-18. He plans to become active as ZF2XP. QSLs via homecall.

4X - ISRAEL
Franz,DL3PS, will be on a business trip in Israel from Nov 10 until
Dec 5. He will try to hit the airwaves as 4X/DL3PS in SSB, CW and
digital modes on 10-80m during his spare time.

9K - KUWAIT
DL9RCF, DM5TI, DL9NDS and DL5NAM will be the guests of 9K2HN from
Nov 6-17. They will join the upcoming WAE Contest in RTTY on the

before and after the contest.

MALTA, 9H. Anne, OH2YL will be QRV as 9H3YL from November 1 to 8.
Activity will be on all HF bands using CW and SSB. QSL to home
call.

TONGA, A3. Ulli, DL2AH is QRV as A35AH from the Tongatapu Group,
IOTA OC-049, until November 9. QSL to home call.

OMAN, A4. Members of the Lufthansa Amateur Radio club and DARC club
I09 are QRV as A43DLH until November 11 while guests of the Royal
Omani Amateur Radio Society. Activity is on all HF bands using CW,
SSB and various digital modes. They plan on using EME as well.
They will also be QRV as A43DLH/p from an Omani Scout Camp. QSL via
DK7PE.

IRAN, EP. Sadegh, EP3HF has been active on 15 meters using SSB
around 0900z. QSL direct.

ANTARCTICA. Nicolas, F4EGX will be QRV as FT5YI from the French
base “Dumont d’Urville” on Petrel Island, IOTA AN-017, from November
to mid December. Activity is on the HF bands using SSB in his

GUERNSEY, Martin, G3ZAY and Michael, G7VJR are QRV as GU3ZAY and
GU7VJR, respectively, until November 2. Activity is mainly on the

ITALY, I. Special event station IY1EY will be QRV from November 1
to 9 to commemorate the radio experiments Guglielmo Marconi made on
his yacht “Elettra” from 1919 to 1936. Activity is on all HF bands

BELGIUM, ON. Special event station ON55INR is QRV until December 31
to mark the start of TV broadcasting from Brussels from the Institut
National Belge de Radiodiffusion. QSL via bureau.

ARUBA, P4. Garry, K9WZB and Sharon, K7WZB are QRV as P40ZB until
November 6. They may also be active from Lighthouse WLOTA LH-0033.

GUATEMALA, TG. Emmanuel, TG9AHM has been active using RTTY on 20
meters around 2000z.

ANTARCTICA. Bob, VK2ABP will be QRV as VK0BP on Davis Base from

and VU7SJ until November 3. Activity is on 160 to 10 meters using

INDONESIA, YB. Ron, AA5DX is QRV as YB9/AA5DX from Bali until

LATVIA, YL. Latvian amateur radio operators will use the special
prefix YL90 during the month of November in celebration of the 90th
anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Latvia.

to 9. Activity will be on 40 to 10 meters using SSB. QSL to home

NIUE, ZK2. Dave, N1EMC is QRV as ZK2DF. He has been active on 40
meters using SSB, listening up, around 0930z. QSL to home call.

OPERATION APPROVED FOR DXCC CREDIT. The following operation is
approved for DXCC credit: Iraq, YI9PT, 2008 operation.

THIS WEEKEND ON THE RADIO. The ARRL CW Sweepstakes Contest, North
American Collegiate ARC CW Championship, NCCC Sprint, IPARC Contest,
Ukrainian DX Contest, High Speed Club CW Contest and the DARC
10-Meter Digital Contest will certainly keep contesters busy this
upcoming weekend. The ARS Spartan Sprint is scheduled for November
